Black Friday and Christmas 2018 approach

We prepare for festive rush on deliveries & storage as Black Friday and Christmas approach

Our recently promoted Senior Operations Manager is preparing for the annual spike in business brought about by Black Friday (23rd November) and the run-up to Christmas. Richard Mallard oversees the transport & warehouse operations from the company’s HQ in Northamptonshire. Earlier this month, we reported our busiest day ever of pallet deliveries.

“We always expect an increase in orders at this time of year, usually around 15%,” says Richard, 38, from Northampton, “but it’s busier than ever this year as more and more people turn to online shopping for their Christmas presents, and companies start to stockpile goods in preparation for Brexit.”

The company recently took on an additional six drivers to help cope with an increase in business, and is also investing in its fleet and technological improvements as it expands and takes on more clients.

Black Friday, which always falls on the fourth Friday of November, traditionally sees stores offer discounts on goods in the run-up to Christmas, and is often the busiest shopping day of the year. As The NX Group delivers most of its pallets to retailers on behalf of its many various clients, the days and weeks leading up to Black Friday see a considerable spike in demand.

Richard continued, “We’re also providing e-commerce to more customers than ever before, which brings on a whole new set of dynamic challenges, because it involves more targeted picking and packing, plus home deliveries, it can be time-consuming, however our team of e-commerce processors are ensuring we continue to deliver as demand steps up.

“By taking on more staff, updating our technology and expanding our fleet, we’re as prepared for the festive period. We’re dedicated to maintaining strong relationships with our clients, delivering on-time, every time, both now and all year round.”

The NX Group is a comprehensive suite of supply chain solutions for businesses that require an extra level of quality and care for their products. Based in the golden triangle of logistics, its distribution, warehousing and courier divisions have grown year on year, thanks to its emphasis on quality, security and personal approach.
