Local logistics boss takes on charity walking challenge
Neil Powell, managing director at Daventry-based logistics firm The NX Group, is swapping the road for the pavement as he takes on an epic walking challenge to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).
Neil will be kick starting the company’s 2023 charity efforts by walking 15,000 steps every day (31) during January to raise money to fund vital research, care and support for people affected by motor neurone disease.
MNDA has been The NX Group’s chosen charity for over 20 years. Motor neurone disease affects the brain and spinal cord, attacking nerves that control movements so that muscles are no longer able to work. The disease leaves people living with MND unable to move, talk, and swallow. Six people are diagnosed with MND every day in the UK.
Neil commented: “MNDA is a charity close to mine and my family’s heart as my grandmother suffered and died from the disease. As a business we have supported this amazing cause, with adverts for the charity appearing on our vehicles as well as holding countless fundraising events over the years. I’m proud to be joining the community of people signed up for this January challenge and am hoping to raise a significant amount of money for this very deserving cause.”
