Quick Summary
Women are playing an increasingly vital role in modern logistics through leadership, operational excellence, and strategic management. Gender diversity within the supply chain sector improves problem-solving capabilities and encourages innovation across traditional transport networks. Dedicated professional development programmes help bridge the gender gap in traditionally male-dominated freight and warehousing roles. Inclusion initiatives lead to more resilient business models and higher staff retention rates across the wider logistics industry. Celebrating these contributions highlights the progress made in creating equal opportunities within the UK transport sector. Continued support for female professionals ensures a sustainable and diverse future for global supply chain management.
Logistics has traditionally been a male‑dominated field, but that story is changing. More women are entering roles in operations, technology, planning, and leadership, bringing new skills and new ways of thinking. Their contributions are reshaping how the industry works – more collaborative, more innovative, and more people‑centred.
What Progress Looks Like at NX
This year, instead of asking our colleagues for advice, we asked them a different question: “What does progress for women in logistics look like to you?” Their answers highlight not just where we are, but where we’re going.
“Seeing more women in logistics shows others that this industry isn’t defined by gender – it’s defined by capability. Being recognised at a recent industry awards ceremony was a personal milestone, but it also reflects the amazing NX team and environment I’m lucky to be part of,” says Marta Cerek.
“It’s the everyday moments that matter – solving a problem, making decisions, supporting a customer. That’s where change really happens. A supportive team makes all the difference, because when you feel backed, you’re more willing to take on new challenges,” says Veronica Vornicescu.
“For me, giving women space to grow isn’t just good for individuals – it strengthens the business too. I genuinely enjoy the daily challenges of my work at NX and learning something new every day. It’s what keeps me motivated and excited to keep progressing within the logistics industry,” says Daniela Birneata.
“I think progress is when women’s strengths are recognised for the value they bring — whether that’s communication, problem‑solving, or staying calm under pressure. I try to be proactive for our customers because it makes their day easier, and when they acknowledge that, it shows how much women can influence the way our industry works,” says Silvia Crecea.
Celebrating Award‑Winning Talent
The past year has been an exceptional one for our team, with several colleagues recognised across the region for their outstanding contributions to logistics. These included a number of our fantastic female colleagues.
Veronica Vornicescu won Employee of the Year at the Northamptonshire Business Excellence Awards 2025. She was praised for her dedication, work ethic, and letting her commitment to our values shine through in everything she does.
At the Northamptonshire Logistics Awards 2025, our women again celebrated success:
- Daniela Birneata won Rising Star
- Marta Cerek won Logistics Person of the Year
Daniela and Marta’s achievements highlight the exceptional talent within our business and demonstrate the impact women are having across the logistics sector. Their success sends a powerful message to women considering a career in transport: there is space to grow, lead, and excel.
